It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The strong man is not the one who wrestles others; rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself at times of anger.” [The Book of Al-Birr: Sahih Muslim]
So, in other words, the one who is the strongest is not the one who has physical strength but the one who can control his anger. Anger leads to things that may be regretted later on and it hurts the creation of Allah (swt). Anger leads your faith to weaken. As Muslims, we should refrain from getting angry. There are many techniques to get rid of anger but the Prophet (saw) had a special way to cool you down.
It is reported that the Messenger of Allah said ( narrated by Sulaiman Ibn Sard and reported by Bukhari and Muslim ) that while Sulaiman was with the Prophet ( ), two persons were blaming each other. The face of one became red and his jugular veins swelled. the Prophet ( ) said. I know a statement if he or she say’s it then the person with anger will cool down.
The person with anger should say : “I SEEK REFUGE IN ALLAH FROM SATAN THE OUTCAST.”
Also, in both science and in Islam, anger can be controlled by lying down. Another way is by drinking water or doing wudu.
In Sha Allah, we all can control our anger and not do things that we may regret later on. May Allah (swt) forgive our sins. Ameen.
